Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd. (EMTS), trading as ‘9mobile, is a Nigerian private limited liability company. EMTS acquired a Unified Access Service License from the Nigerian Communications Commission in 2007. The License enables EMTS provide Fixed Telephony (wired or wireless), Digital Mobile Services, International Gateway Services and National/Regional Long Distance Services in addition to spectrum assignments in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands.

With a recent name change and rebranding in July 2017, the company launched its new brand identity – 9mobile, with an unveiling of the new name and logo. The new brand identity reflects the bold and creative attributes which we share with our valued subscribers especially the vibrant youth segment.

In its 9 years of operation, 9mobile has built up a state-of-the-art telecom infrastructure and taken a leadership position of innovation and quality among mobile network operators operating in Nigeria. With the more recent launch of 4G LTE in October 2016, 9mobile is poised to drive the future of technology in Nigeria through the delivery of high speed data and quality voice services that will enable customers on its network to do more.

Stephane Beuvelet was appointed Ag. Managing Director and Board member 9mobile, on the 12th of November, 2018. Prior to this he was the Chief Technical Officer of the company. He is a core telecom professional with strong and vast technical expertise spanning over 19 years in management, organization development, IT/engineering, financing and commercial, including stints as Chief Technical and Information Officer, Celtel, Congo Brazaville; Chief Technical Officer, MTN Cote D’Ivoire; and Deputy Group CEO/Group CTO, Telma Telecom, Madagascar.

Beuvelet along with the Executive Management Team – Abdulrahman Ado, Executive Director, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, Adebisi Idowu, VP Marketing, Ken Ogujiofor, VP Sales, Abigail Isokpan, Chief HR Officer, Otuyemi Otule, Chief Products & Information Officer and Phillips Oki, Chief Financial Officer, are set to reposition the company, drive exponential growth, and optimize its value creation potential toward the development of the Nigerian telecommunication industry.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The thrust of 9Mobile’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy utilises three platforms – Education, Health and the Environment.

We are committed to facilitating the development of the Nigerian economy, and are collaboratively driving this through a number of initiatives such as the 9mobile Telecommunications Engineering Postgraduate Program (9TEPP), which is the first taught master’s program in West Africa. 9TEPP which is run in partnership with Plymouth University UK, and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria recently produced a Ph.D. graduate.

Our health initiatives include ‘Fight Malaria’ and our partnership with the Joint United Nations Initiative on AIDS (UNAIDS) and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) aimed at increasing awareness, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS.

Environment & Sustainability

We established an Environmental Management System (EMS), to improve our environmental performance. 9mobile’s EMS was certified to ISO 1001:2004 Standard for environmental management in the first quarter of 2017, making 9mobile the first mobile network operator to achieve this certification in Nigeria.
